Accounts Officer

On behalf of our client, we are looking for an Accounts Officer to join their finance team in Nicosia.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with sound foundational accounting knowledge and relevant practical experience who wishes to develop their skills within an organised and supportive working environment.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will support the Accounts Manager in the day-to-day running of the accounting function, contributing to the accurate recording and monitoring of financial transactions.

The role offers the opportunity to strengthen practical accounting skills and gradually take on additional responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accounting records and accurately record day-to-day financial transactions.
• Process and record invoices, payments and receipts.
• Perform bank and other account reconciliations.
• Assist the Accounts Manager with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
• Support VAT, VIES and Intrastat processes, where required.
• Work closely with the finance team to ensure accounting tasks are completed accurately and on time.

Requirements

Essential

• Sound knowledge of basic accounting principles and bookkeeping procedures.
• Relevant practical experience in an accounting department or a similar role.
• Ability to carry out basic accounting entries and reconciliations.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Good command of Greek and English.
• Strong organisational skills, a responsible approach and attention to detail.

Desirable

• LCCI Higher, CAT, a degree in Accounting or Finance, or another relevant qualification.
• Approximately two years of experience in a similar position.
• Previous experience with VAT, VIES and Intrastat.
• Familiarity with accounting software and month-end closing procedures.
